seems like forever

since I really updated and did much.... but I've been working on things. Baby SHower gifts and the abc quilts that I had to finish up. I have fixed countless buttons lately.... and cleared out tons of stuff I won't use but know that Gilda's club would be thrilled to have! I feel good!

I want to get my table back under control again so I can sit down and get working again. I need to work on scrapbooks for the kids and Christmas presents too!

Its been slow moving but

I'm still moving. I did buy a few patterns at the local quilt shop lately ...

I finished another abc quilt and a quilt panel that my mom is donating to the quilt guild for a local layette program for mother's in need.

Now to get the rest done with binding.

I finished something!

So happy I finished the binding on one of the abc quilts. Hopefully its the start of many this week... I just need my sinuses to settle down.

WOOOHOOO!

I finished the towels for UMDM and the gift bags are all packed! YEAH!!! Now I just have to pack our clothes and stuff.... I might get more craft stuff done - I'd like to get the scrabble tiles glued to paper so they can dry really well while we are gone and the bindings attached by machine to the quilts but doubt it will happen tonight before we leave. I'll post a picture later of the towels (probably with our team holding them! cause I forgot to take a picture of them before I packed them up)

I have all the abc quilts quilted now and just need binding...
then I also got the second panel quilt for my mom quilted...needs binding
and I'm in the home stretch with the crochet afghan.

I can't believe it! I'm so excited...these are taking up tons of space on my list and in the house and its nice to be so close to done with them!
I do need to finish (ok really I still need to start) the UMDM gifts for this weekend. =)

ok used up about 30 pieces of scrapbook papers that were sitting around here for the Blue and GOld banquet..... And I have layered all the abc quilts ....using all stash fabric for backings and even pieced together batting for the last 2 of them! Once they are quilted and the binding is done I will add the fabric used to the totals. I am also about 1/2 done with the crochet afghan. WOOOHOOO!

I've been working away

I've been crocheting quite a bit...and stamped a bunch of stuff for the blue and gold banquet so far. I need to layer the baby quilts I have gotten the batting for..that will take care of 8 out of the 12 abc quilts on the list there. I'm kinda debating though if I should maybe do a few of the single quilt tops that need batting cause that will make the list look like its shrinking fast and the finished list grow longer or what LOL. Its one of those "mind games" you play with yourself like drinking 1 big bottle of water seems easier then 8 little bottles which seems endless. I'll probably do a combo of them actually. I've been busy mostly doing some spring cleaning and trying to get out of these winter blahs I have.

went to Joann's

and used the last of my gift certificate from Christmas to buy batting.... YEAH so maybe I will get more things off the ufo list ...

I also tried to get the film canisters from Walmart but they didn't have to give....so can't do the film canister first aid kits for the blue and gold banquet favors.... so Sara gave me an idea of book markers with the magnets so that might be what they get...attached to some cute cardstock note.

frustrated

I know my UFO list is shrinking... and the done list is growing but right now it still feels like I'm drowning in UFO's ... its frustrating at best because there really is alot I want to get done and new things I want to start but at the same time I know I need to finish some of these I have waiting to finish. Part of it is this batting issue...seems I always am waiting for a "good sale" but then when it does roll around the money isn't there to really buy. And I have a few quilts that are just too big for me to pin and quilt on my little machine. And then part of me is like...well heck what I would spend to get these several quilts done I could buy a little gracie frame and just do them myself but then I think where would I put this frame? and all that and its like spinning my wheels making me crazy. And in the end the projects still are sitting here unfinished and not useful because they are just quilt tops. I also have a few projects that I just don't really want to do for a variety of reasons. This crochet afghan is one of them... one its boring pattern wise and color wise but two the person I'm doing it for isn't someone I really like personality wise. She's said some really uncalled for comments about my kids and others and its not someone I want to be around but she works with my mom so I am trying to do this in a way for my mom. So I press on with it. Then there are other projects that are at a point where I can't just take them with me so that makes it hard to make progress on them because we are on the go so much right now. I had hoped to get more done this past week but I was sick. So again its just things at a stand still all around and I'm frustrated and loosing motivation. Anyone else feel like this? What do you do to get your motivation back? When this afghan is done... I keep thinking I will have a project done and over 24 skeins of yarn out of here which will be wonderful. And maybe I will just use a 40% off coupon at Joann's and get some batting to get some of these smaller quilts done up. I think part of it too is that I just feel like the clutter is closing in on me...and I need to keep going on the house cleaning out. Its hard to be creative when you are being swallowed up by kids toys and clothes. I'll keep you updated on things... but if you have any tips/ideas let me know!

Got some more done

Got the shoulder seams done... and one of the sleeves done on the doll sweater.
Then I pulled out an afghan that is for my mom's coworker that has been on my things to do for a LONG time ... got the count back to being right (I started it..then she did a bit and then gave it to me to do since she "doesn't have time") so I got a bit done on that.... but I have been under the weather with sinus stuff with the weather changing so much.

a little work done...

Today worked a bit on the second doll sweater for Bella ... really I just need to do the shoulder seams and then the little cap sleeves and its done...maybe another hour or so of work .

But today I also got another block made for BElla's underground railroad quilt... its only a block that's one more block that I didn't have done yesturday. =)

Finally done with the wrap

Got the picture (Bella isn't feeling well- she's got a yucky cough) But its done done done done done...oh yeah did I tell you its done?! LOL

THis has been hanging around a good 2 years...probably more to be honest. (I figured I bought the yarn and book to make it about 4 years ago.... but started it about 2 years ago....)

hopefully this week while the kids are off of school Bella and I can get more of her blocks done for her underground railroad quilt.

got some more done tonight...

I've been knitting away on the last piece of the wrap. Its exciting to see it finally coming to an end. Then I can say that I used 8 skiens of yarn from my stash!

Tonight in order to help my mom I made 6 burp clothes for her to give with the quilt to Donna's Daughter in law for the new grandson. I used up stash fabric...some of which are favorite fabrics from quilts that I made (mostly for WIlliam since its more boyish). I will add 3/4 yard of fabric used for these.

I'm still no closer to coming up with favor ideas though...

february seems to be slipping through my fingers

I know I finished the quilt for Donna's new grandson but seems that with planning the:
neighborhood leader banquet, neighborhood all brownie event, and neighborhood leader/daughter event as well as my son's blue and gold banquet and being the troop cookie mom (don't ask! LOL) and normal stuff that I haven't gotten to do much else. I'm also trying to clean the house up since its gotten out of control.

Oh I decided as well that if I used a gift certificate then its a gift and I don't have to count it in cost of hobby =) I might still keep in the back of my brain though. I have to come up with something for favors for all of the above except the all brownie event. So if you have ideas let me know. I also need to put together "inspiration gifts"for our dance marathon team and something for my cheer team. And then there's the end of the season coaches gifts. YIKES!! Why do I do this to myself? is anyone else out there like me? And when I get past this stuff I have to start kicking into high gear with the end of the year teacher gifts and brownie award ceremony.

This quilt will be going to my mom's coworker's daughter in law and son's new baby who is yet to be born. Donna (my mom's coworker) is a sweetheart... and been through so much. So even when my wrist hurt it was worth it to keep going.

Ok I will post pictures soon. But last night I finished the binding on Donna's quilt...well its actually for her grandson to be. YEAH!

This added another 3 1/4 yards of fabric to the stashbusting list and 1 1/2 yards of batting! the batting came from my mom's stash..well and in all honesty so did the fabric but still! I did the work and it really sat in my house so I will count in on my list! =)

Progress!

4 days into Feb. and I have made some progress.
I got the quilt quilted for Donna's new grandson (who's still on the inside LOL) and I have knitted more on my wrap. I just have one more front panel to finish..that has been at least a 2 year UFO! So soon you should have pictures. I'm going to go trim the edges on teh quilt and machine attach the binding so that tonight I can do the hand stitching part.

Tommorrow is brownie event and teaching so probably won't get anything craft wise done.... but maybe if I get the last bit of yarn I need for the wrap then I can knit while the girls are watching their movie. =)

its now Feb.

and I don't have much to show yet. I have been knitting away on my shawl. I need to beable to sit down and work on the quilting for Donna's baby quilt. And so many other things. Just seems there is only so much time and I have to still take care of the kids and hubby and the house. But I will not fall off the wagon I promise...that list will get smaller! After the quilt I have a customer order for a jacket to work on but I think this month might be work on blocks month so that I can eventually put together soem of those bigger projects like the embroidery abc quilts, the civil war diary, sylvia's bridal sampler and Bella's underground railroad quilt to just start with! If this year I can even get 1/2 of those made into tops ready to be quilted I'd be thrilled.

still working away

I've been working away on the homespun wrap and on quilting the quilt for Donna... the problem is that my hand still hurts. Its been hard and frustrating ...while I don't have to the wear the brace and the hope is that the pain will be completely gone with in about 3 weeks now... I have a hard time believing that when it hurts like it does now. But I'm still working away and hopefully soon I will have more pictures of completed projects.

The first is the abc blanket...each block is a food or cooking related item that starts with a letter of the alphabet. The backing is flannel with gum ball machines. I think I will probably save this for when my friend Steph has a baby. Steph was a food service/hospitality management major in college =)

I finished the bindings on an abc quilt and the snoopy square. I know I have some more table runners I'd like to still do for my mom but for the most part I'm officially closing the doors on Christmas 2008 gifts- just have to do the thank you notes.

I'm bad!

yup but not really bad (do you see my rationalizing here?!) ... I was at Joann's killing time basically and while there I bought 1 1/2 of fabric and a magazine. Now in my defense is the following:
1. I had been looking for this type of print for a Christmas 2009 gift for a friend with no luck before Monday (could order it on line but then I'd have shipping too)
2. I only bought what I would need to make the gift
3. I used my discount card on both and the magazine was already on sale a bit
4. I paid for it with my gift certificate I got for Christmas!


So I still think I did ok and am not that bad. Do I have to count it on the cost of my hobby though?

I have still been knitting away on my wrap. And I'm hoping to stay home tommorrow and get some house work and sewing done.

Made a huge step in progress yesturday

Somehow I made a HUGE leap in progress... we got all the trees down and the stuff is boxed and put away. I now have both tablerunners quilted and waiting for binding, an abc quilt top is also just waiting on binding too. I finished the back piece for the shawl and started quilting (my mom decided she wants more "fancy" echo quilting on the one for Donna) but that's when the wrist started to kill me so I had to stop.


The roads seem to be getting a bit better so I'm hoping to go out and do something becuase we are all getting a bit on each others nerves. So soon hopefully I will be able to post some pictures. And add to totals and move things around a bit

the mini me's were home today

seems the cold (and don't get me wrong its flippin' cold!!!) closed the school today. Granted they needed some extra down time but still... I got some stuff done. We got some cleaning done but I also got the snoopy table runner for Aunty Kyra pieced and layered today. So now I have a small pile of 2 tablerunners and 2 baby quilted pinned and ready to quilt. I also got some knitting on my wrap done. So keeping up with the progress.....



Oh by the way the santa bottle bags that I made last year for teacher and guy gifts were a HUGE hit!! I put the 2 liter of pop in there with 2 packages of microwave popcorn and a gift tag and everyone loved them! YEAH! And I don't think they cost me $5 total for each one and I think that's pretty darn good overall!

I'm so excited and happy and I also pieced together the grinch tablesquare and its pinned. WOOHOOO The table runner used about 1 yard of various stash fabrics. This is a belated Christmas gift for a friend. I have one more belated gift to piece together and then quilt. When they are done I will add the fabric used to the count I've got going.

YEAH I finished this...this was part of my mom's christmas presents but with everything that happened well I didn't get it done till last night.

I got my machine back and now its sewing away! I in fact have to just do the hand part of the binding on one of the tablerunners for my mom. THis is exciting so it can move off my UFO list. When its done I will post a picture..so stay tune in the next day or two...

I can move the donna dewberry quilt from UFO to completed now! YEAH!!!

also get to raise the amount of stash fabric used! And I layered and pinned 2 more quilt tops this afternoon.

I should be able to pick up my baby (aka my sewing machine) tommorrow. YEAH!!!

I'm working away

So I got another recieving blanket made for my mom's coworkers grandson. And also sewed 14 girl scout junior badges/patches sewn down.

So that adds another 2 1/2 yards to the stashbusting total so that's great.

I'm hoping to now get the rest of the binding done and also pin a quilt top that will be for the same coworkers grandson.

I also was able to give 3 quilts away to a family in need. This helps make my heart a bit happier inthat I can help. So the slashed hearts quilt and 2 abc quilts I finished last year are now with new people being loved. =)

YEAH!

Ok so I was watching trash tv last night (it was really bad as I was watching "Rock of Love Bus" with Brett Micheals.... I am beginning to wonder if that man is a little more than stupid but I digress.) And I got the binding 1/2 hand stitched on for the Donna Dewberry UFO! WOOHOOO maybe tonight I will get it finished and moved to the new list. And then I'll show you all a picture of it.

So far I'm doing good ...

I'm working away on things...trying not to get discouraged by the list of projects and such. Considering most of what is on the completed list was also on the UFO list last year I'm thinking I have a good shot at getting lots of things done again this year.

Today I went with the wonder twins to Joann's ... I finally broke down and got myself some new pins. I am tired of bent ones in my pin cushion. Spent a whoppin' $1.93 when all was said and done with my teacher card and sale. So that's good.

Ok off to try to get more work done. I got the machine part of the binding done on the one quilt top so maybe I'll work on that or I'll keep knitting away..just depends. What I really need/want is a nap! =)

I decided to spend some time today sewing and working on projects. So far its 1:22pm here and I realized I am out of the brown thread I need that matches the brownie sash/vests...so maybe later I will venture out to get that. But in the mean time I made the recieving blankets for Donna (my mom's coworker who's son and new wife are expecting a little boy)... That used up 5 yards of flannel out of my stacks of fabric! WOOOHOOOO
